COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION MEETING – The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission will be meeting November 14th in Wray Colorado. The Commission will conduct it’s annual review of the General Provisions regulations, annual fishing regulations, annual Furbearers and small game, and its regulations pertaining to “Wildlife Properties,” “Damage Caused by Wildlife,” and “Passes, Permits and Registrations”
Detailed Regulations
- General Provisions
- Adjusting license fees and
- License agent commission rates according to adjustments to the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Consumer Price Index
- Annual Fishing Regulations
- Adjustments to current regulations as it pertains to fishing in Colorado
- Annual Furbearers and Small Game
- License Numbers
- Turkey Hunting Dates
During this meeting, the Commission will also discuss several Citizen Petitions. These are petitions submitted by Colorado citizens that they feel would make a big difference in wildlife regulations. On the agenda for this meeting include the following:
- make Game Management Unit 83 limited for elk hunting during the second and third regular rifle seasons
- create a reduced price senior small game and fishing combination license
- allow the use of stone broadheads/projectiles for archery hunting
- allow the use of an atlatl for big game hunting during archery and other big game seasons
- allow the sale of all returned big game licenses at all licensing vendors and online, even after the season has started.
It will be interesting to see the result of some of the items above. There will be several OTC hunters that may not be happy with Unit 83 becoming a limited entry hunt. Another interesting point is the possibility of ALL returned big game licenses being sold, even after the season has started. Currently, purchasing a license after the season has started is not permitted. There are also several big game licenses that are not resold once returned. This would increase the overall number of leftover tags available to hunters.
