A bull moose was illegally killed in Rich County, Utah sometime between July 26 – 28th. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is asking for the publics’ help in gathering information.
Moose Found Dead
On July 30, while responding to a report of a dead moose, conservation officers found the carcass of a young bull less than 10 yards off the road near Bug Lake in Rich County. Based on the appearance of wound patterns consistent with a broadhead, officers determined the moose was shot with archery equipment. There was not an open moose season when the bull was killed.
Utah DWR Seeks Assistance
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is asking anyone with further information regarding the poached moose to call the UTiP Hotline at 800-662-3337 or report through the DWR website. The DWR reminds the public that reports are kept confidential if requested and awards for information leading to a solution are available.

“Who provides the best information to Utah’s wildlife officers? It’s you, the ethical hunters, anglers and wildlife watchers.
Do not attempt to stop a wildlife violation yourself. Be safe and be a good witness. You can call anonymously — or work with officers as a confidential informant — but the sooner you contact us, the faster we can respond, gather evidence and catch the poacher.”
