Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is offering a reward for information regarding two mule deer that were left to waste.
On Monday, Jan. 10th, FWP game wardens received a call to the 1-800-TIP-MONT call-in line that said they had seen two deer left to waste. Officers responded to the Blue Creek Fishing Access Site that sits west of Billings. Once on the scene, the officers found that a two-point buck and a doe mule deer had been dumped in the area. Both of these deer were most likely shot elsewhere and then moved to this location.
After further investigation, FWP officials found that both deer seem to have been shot with a rifle. Sadly, neither of the deer had any meat removed from them. Even if the deer had been legally taken wasting the meat is a wildlife violation.
As a result of the investigation, FWP is looking for further information regarding the case. If anyone has any information regarding this case they may qualify for the reward. Poaching in Montana and the U.S. as a whole continues to happen more than it should. Reward money and special hunting permits have been offered in many states yet many poaching cases go unsolved.
