Montana Application Deadline Approaches: Don’t Miss Your Chance to Hunt
Montana’s hunters are gearing up for the upcoming deer and elk hunting season. However, before they can hit the field, they need to apply for their licenses and permits. The deadline for submitting applications is April 1, so hunters should act fast.
To apply for permits, hunters need a valid email address and can do so through the FWP website. For those who prefer in-person applications, FWP offices are open during business hours. Additionally, hunters and anglers can use the MyFWP mobile app to hold and display their licenses and permits.
It’s essential to have a MyFWP account to use the app, which is also where hunters can link their ALS number. The app is a secure and convenient way to store essential information and E-Tags. However, remember that purchases and applications are done through the online licensing system.
Don’t forget, the FWP licensing call center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until the deadline. After that, the call center’s hours will revert to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Reminders For Shed Hunters
Shed hunting is a popular springtime activity in Montana, but it’s essential to be mindful of the rules and regulations. While many wildlife management areas (WMAs) provide winter security to wildlife, big game winter range WMAs are closed to the public until spring. Most WMAs open at noon on May 15th. It’s important to remember that most block management areas (BMAs) are closed this time of year and require landowner permission for access. Shed hunters should also note that collecting antler sheds or other natural objects are prohibited in Montana State Parks.
