Grizzly bears are pushing their known travel boundaries into Idaho and Washington. A 476 lb. bear was captured near Pend Oreille River in Washington. In another case, a 2-year-old male was found in the Idaho panhandle. He was caught and re-released near the Bull River in Montana. Bears have a penchant for traveling but have yet to reproduce. The lack of reproduction is raising concerns of possible inbreeding causing a weakening population. Grizzlies in areas they are not designated to be in causes risks to both the public and the bears themselves.
