Legislatures in Orleans County, New York are looking to make rifles permanently legal for big game hunting. Currently, there is a 2-year resolution to allow rifle hunting in the county. A legislator is against the new law because he was shot 30 years ago on a hunting trip, he admits his bias, but also has well wishes for the hunters. The efficacy of rifle hunting compared to shotgun hunting is noticed in the area by residents who find less crippled deer in other species late season hunts.
Seems like a good solution for less injured deer. But what are the safety issues the State will be facing by passing this resolution? Or is that not an issue in this circumstance?
