As the government shut down continues, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has directed furloughed employees of wildlife refuges to return to work. The directive is to allow the public who use those lands access and support, including hunters. All politics aside, the move is the right one, hunters who have spent time and money scouting and applying for tags shouldn’t have a right taken away due to no fault of their own. In the same vein, the public, in general, shouldn’t be denied access to any lands that we pay for.
