Calf Pasture Beach Park in Norwalk, Connecticut is an urban park that sees both hunters and non-hunters alike. Waterfowl hunters use in during legal seasons, non-hunters use it for recreation. Legislation has been introduced to turn the park into a wildlife refuge eliminating hunting but allowing fishing. Citing concerns from residents overhearing gunshots. State Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, sponsor of the bill hopes to find a balance between hunting and recreation in the park.
The bill will more than likely end up in the Environment Committee for public comments. Let’s hope all hunters show up in force to support legal hunting and stop the death by a thousand cuts approach from all sides against hunting.
