Over 400 cases of EHD have been reported to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources so far in 2018. EHD or Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease affects whitetail deer and is spread by midge hatches. EHD poses no risk to humans officials say but it has an obvious effect on whitetail deer populations.
