HUNTING NOT STERILIZATION

In a follow up to an earlier article here on EHUNTR, we return to Ann Arbor, Michigan to give an update on the sterilization program. A law prohibiting sterilization of deer has passed the House and will run until 2022. Lawmakers want to see hunters manage the population in place of sterilization. Ann Arbor can continue the program until their permit runs out this year. Urban deer hunting will be the norm in some cities with some distance laws being changed for firearm hunters.

The bill was passed on a 67-42 vote, ensuring that the use of sterilization to help with the population will no longer occur. Last year the city sterilized 54 deer and hired sharpshooters to kill over 100 more. This caused the city to budget over $370,000 to the program.

How many of you prefer hunters managing the deer population over the use of sterilization?
