The New Mexico big game draw application process deadline is fast approaching. Be sure to apply before you miss out.
Hey everyone this will be a fairly short article but we wanted to let you know that the New Mexico application deadline is on March 16th. Below we will leave a bit of info regarding the process.
Applications must be completed before 5 p.m. MDT. Hunters are able to apply for the following species:
- Bighorn Sheep
- Barbary Sheep
- Elk
- Deer
- Ibex
- Pronghorn
- Javelina
- Oryx
- Likewise, you can apply for private-land-only deer licenses in Units 2A, 2B, 2C, 4, and 5A.
New Mexico uses a true letter system for its big game hunting permits. This means the state does not use preference or bonus points. As a result, while the draw odds are steep everyone has the same chance at drawing these hunting permits. Below we will also list some of the basic costs of non-resident and resident permits.
- Game hunting license: Resident – $15, Non-resident: $65
- Pronghorn license: Resident – $60, Non-resident: $283
- Quality Deer license: Resident – $40, Non-resident: $368
- MB Elk license: Resident – $90, Non-resident: $773
- Idex licensee: Resident – $110. Non-resident: $1,623
