A former EPA superfund site that manufactured plutonium triggers for nuclear weapons is now surrounded by a wildlife refuge in Colorado. The opening of the 5,237 acre Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge has been met with resistance by multiple environmental groups. The EPA and Colorado Department of Public Health have deemed the area safe.
