Last year it was announced that Sportsman’s Warehouse and Bass Pro were looking to merge the two companies. At the time the news was met poorly. Many hunters around the country worried about the quality of Sportsman’s products, price points, and healthy competition would falter under the ownership of Bass Pro Shops. However, those hunters won’t have to worry any longer, the two companies have announced that the merger deal is now canceled. We at Ehuntr covered this original story. However, those hunters won’t have to worry any longer, the two companies have announced that the merger deal is now canceled.

On Friday, Dec. 3rd. Sportsman’s Warehouse and Great Outdoors Group LLC (Bass Pro owners) opted to terminate the deal. This decision came after the Federal Trade Commission indicated the companies would not get clearance to complete it. Sportsman’s Warehouse would have gone private if the transaction would have gone through. As a result of the deal being canceled Bass Pro will now have to pay a $55 million termination fee.

This canceled deal leaves Sportsman’s Warehouse public again. However, the market has reflected the uncertainly of the situation as stock for the company hovers around $18 a share.
