The Utah Division of Wildlife is seeking two volunteers for the Wildlife Board. The two open spots must be filled by August 2021. The Wildlife Board is a seven-person board that makes the final decisions concerning hunting, fishing, and how wildlife is managed in Utah.
Wildlife Board Application Process
Any resident that has an interest in wildlife management is encouraged to apply. The appointments to The Wildlife Board are one six-year unpaid terms. Likewise, The application period for the two positions runs from February 1st to March 31st. Applicants for the appointments will need to list any associations they have been a member of for the previous five years. However, a college degree is NOT required to serve on The Wildlife Board. Interested readers can apply for the positions by clicking here. After the application period closes The Utah Wildlife Board Nominating Committee will review the candidates. The Utah Wildlife Board Nominating Committee is an eleven-person board appointed by the governor. The Nominating Committee will submit candidates to the governor, which will make the final two selections of The Wildlife Board.

To better manage wildlife within the state the UDWR has split the state into five regions. As a result, each region is represented by a member of The Wildlife Board. Currently, every region has at least one person representing them on the Board. The two appointments can be filled by a resident living anywhere in the state. The new appointees are encouraged to attend public Wildlife Regional Advisory Council meetings in the regions they represent. Likewise, appointees need to attend around six public Wildlife Board meetings in Salt Lake City each year. However, because of Covid-19, the meetings have been held virtually since March of 2020.
