Some lawmakers in New Hampshire introduced a bill for the third straight time requiring New Hampshire Fish and Game Agents to acquire a warrant before doing a field search. NHFG officials have fought and will continue to fight against this bill. It would ultimately leave fish and game officers handcuffed as they could not stop potential infractions. The bill goes to a committee vote later this month and optimism is high that will be defeated there.
Why do some lawmakers feel like they need to regulate in departments that they know little about? How will Fish and Game Agents do their work if this bill passes? They would have to actively watch poachers killing animals without the ability to do anything about it. This not only effects the hunting of land animals but also acts on the ocean. Lobster poachers will also have free reign if passed.
