The Wyoming big game permit application period will open at 8 am Monday, Jan. 4th. Both resident and nonresident hunters will be able to apply on that day. All applications must be submitted online via the Wyoming Game and Fish website.

Hunters will be able to submit applications for licenses to hunt the following species:

  • Deer
  • Antelope
  • Moose
  • Bighorn Sheep
  • Mountain Goat
  • Elk
  • Spring Turkey

The Game and Fish would also like to remind hunters that they can find in-depth information via their Hunt Planner. The Planner allows hunters to see the estimated season dates. Likewise, hunters can see harvest success as well as draw odds. All season dates will be finalized on May 1st. Applicants can also find unit boundaries and descriptions on the Planner website. Hunters with questions regarding applications can call (307) 777-4600 or visit the Game and Fish website. Likewise, hunters can read about all the updates in the 2021 Hunting License Application Information Electronic Pamphlet.

New for 2021, nonresident applicants for bighorn sheep and moose will need to elect to opt-in with their applications to be awarded a preference point if unsuccessful in the draw. Otherwise, unsuccessful applicants can apply for a point beginning in July. Another addition for 2021, All hunters that apply will have the ability to make voluntary donations to Wildlife Crossing. Wildlife Crossing is an initiative that funds projects to reduce wildlife and vehicle collisions. Every year over 6,000 big game animals are killed by vehicles. Ensuring the safe crossing of wildlife could save thousands of wildlife a year.

So, do you plan to apply in the upcoming application period? Have you hunted in Wyoming before? Let us know in the comments!
